What is radon?

Radon is a radioactive gas that forms naturally when radioactive metals break down in rocks, soil and even in groundwater. People can be exposed to radon primarily from breathing radon in air that comes through cracks and gaps in homes. Because radon comes naturally from the earth, people are always exposed to it.

Radon is estimated to cause between 3 – 14% of all lung cancers and is one of the leading causes of lung cancer. We suggest testing your home for radon gas levels every 2 years! If your home comes back with higher radon level readings of 4.0 pCi or above, then mitigation is recommended.
